Former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has extended a heartfelt congratulatory message to Senator Otunba (Engr.) Gbenga Daniel, describing the former Ogun State Governor as a worthy leader whose life of service continues to impact the nation.
In a personally signed letter dated March 2, 2026, Obasanjo praised Daniel as he marked his 70th birthday, acknowledging the senator’s receipt of an earlier correspondence from the celebrant.
The former president lauded Daniel’s decades of public service, highlighting his tenure as Governor of Ogun State from 2003 to 2011, where he was credited with fostering peaceful coexistence among diverse ethnic and religious groups and laying the foundation for socio-economic growth. Obasanjo also noted Daniel’s current role as a senator in the National Assembly since 2023, commending his uncommon sense of duty and dedication to his constituents.
“Your life has demonstrated clearly that even from a modest background, determination, industry and dedication can lead to success in life,” Obasanjo wrote, praying for God’s continued protection, good health, joy, and peace of mind for the senator and his family in the years ahead.
