Olubadan’s Son Threatens to Release Chats as Oyo Speaker Denies Alleged Gubernatorial Request Deal
Shola Ladoja, son of former Oyo State Governor Rashidi Ladoja, has threatened to make public private conversations he claims show that the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Debo Ogundoyin, once pleaded with him to facilitate a meeting with his father to seek political support ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
In a post shared on his X handle on Tuesday, Shola said his earlier message that sparked controversy was misunderstood, clarifying that he was referring to “proof of conversations” rather than financial receipts.
He alleged that on March 25, the Speaker personally appealed to him to arrange a meeting with his father in a bid to secure backing for his alleged gubernatorial ambition, a request he claimed he was initially reluctant to honour.
According to him, he is prepared to release more details of the exchange if necessary, amid growing political tension in Oyo State linked to speculation of an impeachment plot against Governor Seyi Makinde.
Meanwhile, the Speaker has reportedly addressed the controversy surrounding the alleged impeachment move against Governor Makinde, acknowledging claims of political meetings and alleged financial inducements but insisting he rejected any such offer.
In his account, he stated that discussions referenced meetings with prominent figures, including members of the royal institution, but maintained that no unethical agreement influenced his position, adding that any engagement was part of broader political consultations ahead of the 2027 elections.
