President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday held separate meetings with former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, and a former Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Papers News reports that the meetings, which were held behind closed doors, have sparked political interest, especially as none of the visitors had yet to disclose the purpose of their engagements with the President as of the time of filing this report.
According to Daily Trust, Ganduje and Badaru declined to speak with State House correspondents after their separate meetings with the President, leaving the agenda of the discussions open to speculation.
Presidential aides also did not provide details of the meetings at the time of filing this report.
The development comes amid rising security concerns in the North-East, particularly in Borno State, where terrorists have recently intensified attacks on military formations.

The situation has drawn national attention, with stakeholders calling for renewed strategies to curb the insurgency in the region.
The meeting also comes against the backdrop of evolving political developments in Kano State, following the recent defection of former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Kwankwaso’s move has stirred political realignments in the state, with analysts suggesting that Ganduje’s visit to the Villa may not be unconnected to consultations on managing opposition dynamics ahead of future elections.
Papers News recalls that Ganduje served as the National Chairman of the APC from August 2023 until his resignation in July 2025.
Since stepping down, he has remained a key political figure within the party, particularly in Kano politics.
