President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace sacrifice as a necessary path to national transformation, as he delivered his Easter message to citizens at home and abroad.
In a statement personally signed and shared via his Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, the president said the Easter season—marked by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ—symbolises resilience, hope, and victory over adversity, values he said are relevant to Nigeria’s current challenges.
Tinubu acknowledged that the country is facing economic difficulties and persistent security threats but assured that his administration is actively addressing them. He disclosed that increased funding and stronger international collaborations are being deployed to tackle terrorism and banditry across the country.
The president also referenced his recent visit to Jos, where he sympathised with victims of violence and reassured residents of improved security. He added that security agencies have expressed confidence in ongoing efforts, supported by assistance from foreign partners.
Emphasising unity, Tinubu urged citizens to support government initiatives and promote peace, noting that no nation can thrive amid fear and instability. He called on Nigerians to work together, reject divisive forces, and contribute to national progress.
On economic reforms, he admitted that current policies may be difficult in the short term but insisted they are designed to secure long-term prosperity. According to him, enduring development often requires tough but necessary decisions.
As the country moves toward another election cycle, Tinubu advised political stakeholders to abide by the Electoral Act and conduct themselves responsibly. He urged voters to prioritise peace, stability, and the overall good of the nation in their choices.
Expressing optimism, the president said early economic indicators show the country is on the right path, assuring Nigerians that brighter days lie ahead.
He concluded by appreciating citizens for their continued support and encouraged them to remain hopeful and committed to building a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Nigeria.
