The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has expressed deep sorrow over the death of two intending pilgrims in a fatal car accident along the Riminado-Kano Road.
The deceased pilgrims, Alkasim Ibrahim Walawa and his mother, Hadiza Garba, were indigenes of Walawa village in Kabo Local Government Area of the state.
The board’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Dederi, confirmed the death of the pilgrims in a statement on Tuesday.
“The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, in conjunction with its Board of Directors, expresses deep sorrow over the tragic death of two intending pilgrims, Alkasim Ibrahim Walawa and his mother, Hadiza Garba, who lost their lives in a fatal car accident along the road between Rimin Gado and Kano city.
“Alkasim Ibrahim Walawa, aged 48, is survived by two wives and seven children. His mother, Hadiza Garba, aged 73, is survived by five children. Both deceased were indigenes of Walawa Village in Kabo Local Government Area.
“Their passing is particularly heartbreaking as they were on a noble journey with the intention of travelling to the Holy Land for pilgrimage,” Dederi said.
The board and its management staff prayed to Allah to forgive their shortcomings and grant them eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.
They also extended their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for strength and patience during this difficult time.
On Monday, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority confirmed a fatal accident at Motorways inward Estate, Alapere, Lagos, resulting in the death of a dispatch rider.
According to the agency’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, preliminary findings indicate that an empty NIPCO tanker, bearing registration number TTN-776ZQ and allegedly speeding, rammed into the rider, leading to his instantaneous death.
