Yesufu Warns Obi: ‘I’ll Resist Any Attempt to Exceed One-Term Pledge

Activist Aisha Yesufu has declared that she would firmly oppose Peter Obi if he becomes president and fails to honour his promise to serve only one term in office.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Monday, Yesufu stressed that Obi must remain consistent with his long-standing commitment to a single-term presidency.
She stated that any deviation from that promise would attract her full resistance. According to her, Obi’s stance on serving one term did not begin after the 2023 general election but had been part of his position even before the polls.
Yesufu revealed that she had personally engaged the former Anambra State governor on the issue, especially after the election, to seek clarity and reaffirmation of his pledge. During their discussion, she said Obi assured her that his commitment remained unchanged and that he intended to stand by his word.
She emphasised that she takes such assurances seriously, noting that she publicly backed the promise based on trust in his integrity.
The activist maintained that any attempt by Obi to reverse his position would be strongly challenged, insisting that leaders must be held accountable for their words.
Despite her warning, Yesufu expressed confidence that Obi would remain true to his commitment, describing him as a leader known for keeping his promises.
