2027: Kwankwaso Backs Peter Obi for Presidency, Predicts Election Victory

Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed strong confidence in the chances of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking during the affirmation of the party’s consensus candidates in Kano State, Kwankwaso declared that Obi would emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election and be sworn in as Nigeria’s next president.

The former Kano State governor described the consensus exercise as a landmark achievement for the party, noting that it reflected unity, maturity and cooperation among members across the state.

Kwankwaso commended party leaders, elders and supporters for ensuring a peaceful and transparent process throughout the various constituencies in Kano. According to him, despite having multiple aspirants in several constituencies, party stakeholders were able to reach agreements and produce consensus candidates without conflict.

He praised the commitment of party members to maintaining harmony and strengthening the party’s structure ahead of future elections.

Expressing optimism about the party’s prospects, Kwankwaso said Peter Obi would lead the party’s presidential ticket and ultimately secure victory at the polls.

“I’m talking about Peter Obi; he will be flying our flag, and by the grace of God, on May 29, exactly one year from now, he will have been sworn in as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Kwankwaso stated.

The former governor also appreciated members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, the CRC, Lafiya Jari groups and NNPP supporters for their dedication and support during the candidate affirmation process.

Also speaking at the event, the chairman of the party’s primaries committee, Mainasara Abubakar Sani, applauded party members for their cooperation and discipline throughout the exercise.

Sani said reports received from across Kano indicated that the primaries were conducted peacefully and successfully, adding that members made the committee’s assignment easier through their commitment to the process.

“We have received reports that the exercise was conducted successfully and peacefully. Kano members made our work easier,” he said.

The event marked another step in the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections, with leaders expressing confidence in their ability to remain united and competitive on the national political stage.
