Nigeria has joined other countries all over the world in transporting their intending pilgrims, for this year’s Hajj, just as the inaugural flight has departed Federal Capital Territory, Abuja for Madinah.
Information released by the Information and Publication Division of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria confirmed this on Sunday evening.
According to the update obtained by The Eagleonline, UMZA flight UMZ3501 departed Abuja to Madinah at 17:03hrs with 473 Kogi pilgrims on Sunday afternoon.
The breakdown showed that the flight had a total of 296 male intending pilgrims, while their female counterparts numbered 177.
“Total Airlifts=473; Total Flights=01,” the update said.
The Eagleonline reported on Saturday that the plan for inaugural flight scheduled for the Gateway International Airport, Iperu, Ogun State, was reversed and moved to FCT.
No official public statement has been given for the last minute change.
