Leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) were on Friday, denied access to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Papers News reports that ADC leaders, including its National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, and Secretary of the ADC Manifesto and Policy Committee, Mallam Salihu Lukman, were denied access to El-Rufai when they attempted to see him in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
While the details surrounding Friday’s visit are still sketchy, the development was confirmed by the ADC spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, who shared pictures and videos on his 𝕏 Account.
Recall that recently, the ICPC had denied claims that former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, was denied access to food, family and medical care in its custody.
The ICPC spokesperson, Okor Odey, dismissed the allegations at a press conference on Monday, describing them as “false and misleading.”
Odey said visitors were allowed into ICPC detention facilities between 9 am and 6.30 pm, adding that El-Rufai’s wife arrived after the approved visiting period.
He added that authorised visitors, including family members, lawyers and medical personnel, were allowed access under supervision.
The El-Rufai family had earlier claimed that the former Governor had been denied access to his personal doctors despite an earlier Kaduna High Court order granting him unrestricted access to lawyers and physicians.
According to them, even the ICPC’s in-house doctor had recommended further medical examination before access was allegedly blocked.
“When you see a doctor and you run tests, you are expected to see the doctor back so that he explains what the problem is,” she said.
“He was denied access to the doctor,” his second wife, Hasiat alleged.
