The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2026 Osun State gubernatorial election, Bola Oyebamiji, has pledged to reinstate no fewer than 2,000 teachers and health workers disengaged, if elected governor.
Oyebamiji made the promise in a statement on Sunday.
This was after a meeting with over 1,500 teachers and 515 health workers said to have been disengaged by the government in 2022.
He described the disengagement as unfortunate and unjust, saying the affected workers had served the state diligently before losing their jobs without salaries, arrears, or job security.
According to him, no responsible government should abandon qualified professionals willing to serve.
He noted that such actions weaken trust in public service and affect morale in the education and healthcare sectors.
Oyebamiji assured the workers that his administration would prioritise their reinstatement and also address outstanding salary arrears and promotion entitlements.
He said: “Under our administration, their concerns will be treated with fairness, compassion and sincerity.
“We will ensure their return to work, settle their outstanding arrears and restore dignity to the public service.”
The APC candidate said Osun State deserved leadership that valued workers as critical partners in development and promised to rebuild confidence between government and public servants.
