President Bola Tinubu has been declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election in Akwa Ibom State.
President Tinubu won the party primary with 389,197 votes, while his only opponent, Stanley Osifo, recorded zero votes.
The APC presidential primary election was conducted on Saturday across all 329 wards in Akwa Ibom State to elect the presidential flag bearer for the 2027 general election.
The APC State Collation Officer and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, announced the results of the primary election, which were earlier submitted by the local government returning officers.
Eno commended party faithful for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise, describing the outcome as a reflection of the confidence and support President Tinubu continued to enjoy from the APC members in Akwa Ibom State.
He said: “The primary election witnessed massive participation by delegates and stakeholders from the 31 local government areas of the state.”
In his remarks, the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, commended the governor for his peaceful disposition, and the party faithful for their orderly conduct at the exercise.
He also commended the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for opting for direct primaries, explaining that such a system had reduced incidents of rancour and violence during primary elections.
Akpabio congratulated President Tinubu for the overwhelming victory in the state, assuring him of replicating the same during the 2027 general election.
The collated results were subsequently presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials present, Commissioner of Police, and Director of the Department of State Services (DSS).
