Security Operatives Arrest Miyetti Allah Leader, Bello Bodejo in Taraba

Security operatives have reportedly arrested the President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo, in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.
Bodejo, who is contesting for the Taraba Central Senatorial seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was taken into custody on Thursday night shortly after arriving in the state on a private jet.
He had earlier landed at the Danbaba Suntai Airport in Jalingo at about 1:20 pm, where he was welcomed by a large crowd of supporters drawn from the five local government areas of the Taraba Central Senatorial District.
According to his aide, Umar, who spoke to journalists, the arrest occurred after Bodejo visited some security agency offices alongside close political associates. He said the incident happened shortly after the APC aspirant addressed supporters at the party’s state secretariat in Jalingo.
Umar explained that the associates who accompanied him were asked to leave the premises before Bodejo was detained. He added that the family and campaign team were yet to be informed of his whereabouts or the reason for his arrest.
“The same security personnel who escorted him from Abuja to Jalingo were the ones who later arrested him. We don’t know where he has been taken to, and we are deeply concerned about his whereabouts,” he said.
Before his arrest, Bodejo had told journalists that he would not withdraw from the senatorial race, insisting he was in the contest to win. He also said he had purchased his nomination form and would resist any pressure to step down.
“The consensus committee set up by the governor has not contacted me, and I will not step down for anybody,” he said.
This is not the first time Bodejo has been detained. In 2024, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested him over allegations linked to the formation of a vigilante group in Nasarawa State, after a raid on his office in Abuja.
