Nigerian singer Brymo has called on some of the country’s biggest music stars to step aside and allow emerging talents greater prominence in the entertainment industry.
Speaking during a recent interview on TVC, Brymo shared his views on the state of the Nigerian music scene, arguing that discussions continue to focus heavily on established stars while younger artistes struggle to gain the recognition they deserve.
According to him, the industry’s long-standing obsession with the “Big 3” conversation—centered around Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy—has overshadowed a new generation of performers who should now be at the forefront of Afrobeats and pop music.
Brymo maintained that attention should shift away from criticizing younger artistes over lyrical content and instead focus on creating space for fresh voices to thrive.
He argued that some veteran musicians continue to dominate industry conversations and public attention, making it difficult for newer acts to fully establish themselves.
The singer specifically highlighted Rema as an artiste who, in his view, should currently be leading the country’s pop music scene without debate.
“We need to stop talking about how the new artists don’t have lyrical substance and focus on how some artists want to lock down the industry for themselves with the ‘Big 3’ narrative and continue reigning forever,” Brymo said.
He added that established stars should evolve and make way for younger acts, questioning why conversations in the pop music space remain centered on names such as Wizkid, 2Baba, Olamide, and Burna Boy despite the rise of a new generation of performers.
