Chaka Launches Hisa as It Builds a Pan-African Investment Platform
The Nigerian fintech that became the country’s first SEC-licensed digital sub-broker has launched Hisa, a new investment platform it says better reflects its ambitions beyond Nigeria and its next phase of growth across Africa.
The rebrand comes with more than a new identity. Hisa replaces the Chaka trading app with a redesigned product experience, new investing features, and a broader regional positioning as the company expands access to investing in Nigeria.
For years, Chaka’s core proposition was access. The company helped lower barriers to stock market participation by allowing retail investors buy and sell publicly traded securities from their smartphones. But access alone, the company says, is no longer enough.
As digital investing matures across Africa, user experience, transparency, and trust are becoming equally important differentiators.
Hisa introduces a cleaner interface, faster trade execution, automated investing tools, after-hours trading, and Atlas, an in-app research feature designed to help users make informed investment decisions without leaving the platform.
The company has also simplified pricing with a flat 1% commission per trade.
The new brand reflects a broader geographic ambition. “Hisa” means shares in Swahili, one of Africa’s most widely spoken languages. The choice signals a move from a Nigeria-focused identity toward a platform designed for a larger African investor base.
In Nigeria, investment services are powered by Chaka Technologies Ltd.
The launch comes as investor-focused fintechs increasingly compete to capture Africa’s growing retail investment market. Rising smartphone adoption, greater awareness of wealth-building tools, and increasing interest in global markets have created new opportunities for platforms seeking to bring first-time investors online.
For Chaka, now Hisa, the bet is that the next stage of growth will come not just from market access, but from making investing feel less intimidating and more intuitive for everyday Africans.
Hisa is now available for download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Existing Chaka users can simply update their app to access the new Hisa experience, while new users can sign up directly to begin investing.
