Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has appeared before the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the continuation of proceedings in his ongoing corruption case.
El-Rufai arrived at the court around 9:30 a.m., accompanied by officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), alongside operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force.
The former governor is facing charges filed by the ICPC over alleged abuse of office, fraud, and financial misconduct during his administration. Prosecutors claim that public funds were released for projects that were either not executed or were improperly managed.
El-Rufai has consistently denied the allegations, insisting that he is innocent of all charges brought against him.
During Monday’s proceedings, the court is expected to hear additional motions and legal arguments from both the prosecution and defence as the trial progresses.
Earlier, on April 14, 2026, Justice Rilwan Aikawa granted El-Rufai bail in the sum of ₦200 million. The bail conditions required two sureties, including a serving or retired civil servant on Grade Level 15 and a recognised traditional ruler.
Although El-Rufai’s legal team sought a review of the bail terms, a Kaduna State High Court presided over by Justice Darius Khobo had previously declined to grant him bail, citing concerns that his influence could affect ongoing investigations into the corruption allegations.
Meanwhile, El-Rufai’s media aide, Muyiwa Adekeye, recently accused the ICPC of preventing the former governor from accessing medical treatment despite complaints of a deteriorating eye condition.
