Lagos Police Probe Delivery of Parcel Containing Live Bullets to First Bank MD’s Home

The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the delivery of a suspicious parcel containing live ammunition to the residence of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of First Bank Nigeria, Olusegun Alebiosu.

Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, disclosed that Alebiosu reported the incident to the police on May 7, 2026, after a security guard at his residence received a parcel on his behalf.

According to the police commissioner, the parcel was opened and found to contain two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, raising serious security concerns and prompting an immediate investigation.

Fatai described the matter as a grave case that requires extensive scrutiny, stressing that detectives are still working to uncover those behind the delivery.

He revealed that although the First Bank chief executive had expressed suspicions about certain individuals, no arrests had been made so far and investigators were carefully examining all leads.

“The case remains under investigation. It is a serious matter that demands a thorough probe,” the commissioner said.

Fatai’s comments came in response to questions regarding reports of the suspicious package sent to the bank executive’s residence.

The police chief also highlighted recent successes recorded by the command in its ongoing crime-fighting operations. He said officers arrested several suspects linked to various criminal activities and recovered a cache of items, including 14 firearms, four live cartridges, 51 mobile phones, a motorcycle, 47 sacks of military camouflage uniforms, and vandalised electrical cables.

The Lagos State Police Command said efforts are continuing to determine the source of the parcel and identify those responsible for the incident.
