New Force PRO Iniedu Pledges Transparency, Citizen-Focused Policing

The newly appointed Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, has pledged to promote transparency, responsiveness, and citizen-centred policing in the discharge of his duties.

In a statement issued on Saturday following his confirmation as Force PRO, Iniedu assured Nigerians that the police under his watch would remain committed to accountability and would not tolerate impunity.

He emphasized the need for collaboration between the police and the public in tackling crime, describing criminality and impunity as common enemies that require collective action to defeat.

The new police spokesperson also called on members of the public, media organisations, and other stakeholders to engage constructively with his office, expressing optimism about building a tenure defined by openness, accountability, and measurable results.

“On assuming office as the Force Public Relations Officer, I reaffirm the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to a new era of responsive, transparent, and citizen-centred policing. Crime and impunity remain our common enemy, and their defeat requires the active partnership of every Nigerian. I invite the public, the media, and all stakeholders to engage constructively with this office as we work towards a more accountable and effective police service,” he stated.

The Nigeria Police Force officially announced Iniedu’s appointment on Friday. The approval was granted by the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu.

The announcement was made in a statement by the outgoing Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, who described Iniedu as an experienced officer with a strong background in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, administration, and institutional accountability.

With his appointment, CSP Iniedu is expected to lead the police public communications department and strengthen engagement between the Nigeria Police Force and the public.
