Police Rescue Former Minister Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons in Daring Oyo Operation
The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a late-night operation at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
According to police sources, two suspected kidnappers were killed during a fierce gun battle with operatives, and two firearms were recovered from the suspects.
Mrs. John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her children were originally abducted around 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026, while traveling to school.
Security sources revealed that sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated tactical operations placed mounting pressure on the kidnappers, ultimately forcing a confrontation that led to the victims’ rescue.
Authorities added that security forces are continuing combing operations in surrounding areas to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate, several of whom are believed to have fled with gunshot wounds.
Prior to the rescue, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde visited Adelabu’s residence to express solidarity with the family and assure them that security agencies were working tirelessly to secure the safe release of the victims.
“We share in your pain at this difficult time,” Makinde said. “I want to assure you that the government and security agencies are doing everything possible to ensure the safe return of your sister and her children.”
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security across the state through sustained collaboration with relevant agencies.
“Our security agencies are on the matter, and we remain committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice,” he added. “We will continue to work closely with security stakeholders to combat criminal activities, protect lives and property, and ensure that residents can go about their daily activities without fear.”
