“Stop prioritising politics over truth” – Davido berates APC praise singer Rarara after he called him out

Afrobeats superstar Davido has responded to criticism from APC praise singer Dauda Kahutu Rarara, insisting that patriotism requires speaking out about the country’s security challenges rather than protecting political interests.
The exchange began after Rarara criticised Davido’s appearance at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert in Los Angeles, where the singer wore a customised jacket bearing the names of abducted pupils and teachers from Oyo State alongside the message “Bring Them Home.”
Rarara argued that taking Nigeria’s insecurity concerns to an international stage could damage the nation’s image.
Davido initially responded with a brief social media post mocking the singer’s remarks, prompting a further response from Rarara.
The disagreement later escalated when the Afrobeats star issued a more detailed statement defending his actions.
According to Davido, drawing attention to the plight of kidnapped children and teachers should not be viewed through a political lens.
He maintained that remaining silent in the face of insecurity would be irresponsible and stressed that concern for the safety of citizens should take precedence over partisan considerations.
His words …
“Damn it, every Nigerian should not stay silent about the insecurity plaguing the nation, nor should they prevent others from voicing their concerns openly. Showing bias and prioritizing personal or political interests, and putting personal desires above the community’s goals, is nothing to be proud of. Be a patriot for your country, stop prioritizing politics over the truth, and fear God in everything you do @kahuturarara “
