The United States Mission in Nigeria has reiterated that all prospective travellers to the United States are subject to extensive, multi-layered interagency security vetting before they are allowed entry into the country.
The Mission maintained the stance in a post shared on its official X page on Monday.
It explained that the screening process involves multiple government agencies and is aimed at safeguarding U.S. national security.
According to the mission, “Every prospective traveler to the United States undergoes extensive interagency security vetting.
“Prohibiting entry to the United States by those who might pose a threat to U.S. national security is key to protecting U.S. citizens at home.”
The statement was shared under the campaign hashtag #VisaWiseTravelSmart, which the U.S. Mission has used to provide information on visa processes, travel requirements and immigration policies.
The latest message comes amid continued emphasis by U.S. authorities on security checks and compliance with immigration rules for individuals seeking to travel to the country.
The mission did not announce any new visa restrictions or policy changes but stressed the importance of security vetting as part of the travel approval process.
