Delta Govt Approves 13th Month Salary For Workers

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved a 13th-month salary bonus for civil servants in the state.

The governor announced the decision on Wednesday at a Dinner and Award Night held in Asaba, part of activities marking the 2026 Public Service Week. Civil servants and other guests at the event cheered the announcement.

Oborevwori said the new bonus is meant to reward workers for their dedication and continued contribution to the state’s development. He added that the payment would boost workers’ welfare and motivate them to stay committed to their duties.

With this approval, Oborevwori becomes the first governor in Delta State’s history to introduce a 13th-month salary bonus for civil servants.

The Public Service Week programme was put together to honour public servants and highlight their role in delivering government policies and services to residents across the state.

Meanwhile, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has disclosed that the Federal Government is considering a review of workers’ salaries, noting that the ₦70,000 minimum wage approved by the Tinubu administration in 2024 no longer reflects current economic realities.
