Three children were among at least 10 Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza on Saturday, medics said.
An airstrike on an apartment building in the Nasr suburb of Gaza City killed five members of the same family, including three children aged between 8 and 18, Gaza’s civil defence agency said.
Six others were wounded in the strike, including four children.
Earlier on Saturday, three people were killed by artillery fire in the Zeitoun neighbourhood of Gaza City. They were taken to the Al Shifa medical complex in the western part of the devastated city, medics said.
Health officials said two other people were killed elsewhere in Israeli attacks in Gaza.
This comes a day after 12 people were killed in separate Israeli attacks, including eight in a drone strike on a market in Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
Gaza’s civil defence agency said the strike coincided with a funeral procession that was taking place in the area.
“Where are the mediators? Where are the sponsors of the ceasefire agreement?” the office asked in a statement criticising the international community’s silence on the attacks.
The ceasefire agreement brokered by the US and regional mediators in October has failed to stop Israeli attacks, which have continued on almost a daily basis over the past nine months.
The Gaza health ministry said in its most recent bulletin on Thursday that 1,127 people had been killed and 3,643 others injured since the ceasefire was supposed to come into effect on 10 October.
Families in an area east of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza were forced to flee on Friday after Israeli drones broadcast messages ordering residents to leave.
Israeli forces have gradually expanded their occupation of Gaza during the “ceasefire” and now control about 70 percent of its territory. The original yellow line agreed during the ceasefire talks left Israel in control over a little more than half of the strip.
The latest attacks come as negotiations between Hamas and the Trump-backed Board of Peace remain at a standstill.
The Board of Peace has been accused of effectively deferring to Israel’s position during the talks, pressuring Palestinian factions to disarm but doing little to end Israeli attacks or negotiate the withdrawal of Israeli forces.
Hamas has refused to hand over its weapons until Israel withdraws from Gaza.
The death toll in Gaza since Israel began its genocidal assault in October 2023 has reached 73,250. Almost all of Gaza’s 2 million residents have been displaced multiple times and now live in makeshift camps and damaged buildings on a tiny strip along the coast.
