Israeli forces killed five people, including a child, in Gaza on Monday after a drone targeted a group of civilians, Gaza health officials said.
Israel continues to regularly conduct attacks across Gaza, defying the October ceasefire agreement that was supposed to bring an end to the assault.
“Three people were killed and several injured when an Israeli drone struck a group of civilians,” Al-Aqsa Hospital said in a statement
One of the victims was a child aged eight years old, it added,
Gaza’s civil defence agency said the strike hit an area in Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.
Later on Monday, Gaza’s civil defence agency reported two people killed and more than 27 injured in an Israeli airstrike on a tent west of Khan Younis.
Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that the strike took place in Al-Mawasi, which is supposed to be a humanitarian zone safe for civilians to shelter.
Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis confirmed receiving the bodies of the dead.
Israel has continued to launch near-daily attacks across Gaza in the eight months since it signed the ceasefire pact with Hamas.
More than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire took effect on 10 October, according to the Gaza health ministry. Almost 3,400 others have been injured.
It has also maintained a strict blockade, exacerbating the severe shortages of essential goods and medical supplies.
Palestinians continue to live in dire humanitarian conditions, with the vast majority of the population trapped in overcrowded displacement camps without access to basic health, water and sanitation services.
At least 73,058 people have been killed and 173,488 others wounded since Israel began its genocidal assault on the strip on 7 October 2023.
