APC Chairman Dies After Collapsing During Party Meeting in Kogi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Oyewole Mayowa Solomon, has reportedly died after collapsing during a party reconciliation meeting in Iyara, the council headquarters.
According to reports, Solomon suddenly slumped on Friday while attending a meeting convened by a former Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Funsho Olumoko.
The meeting was organised as part of efforts to resolve internal disagreements among APC stakeholders and strengthen unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sources said the incident caused confusion among participants, who reportedly made efforts to revive Solomon before taking him to a hospital in Kabba. He was, however, said to have died shortly after arriving at the facility.
The meeting came amid attempts by APC leaders and stakeholders in Ijumu to address divisions within the party and improve cooperation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Earlier in August, APC stakeholders in the local government had gathered in Iyara and endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo for re-election.
The stakeholders also appealed for greater unity among party members. However, that meeting reportedly ended in disagreements over the leadership of the local government, with Solomon and some other party officials said to have walked out.
Solomon’s death has reportedly left party members and other participants mourning, as efforts to reconcile factions within the local APC continue.
