Nigerian Afrobeat musician, Femi Kuti, has argued that President Bola Tinubu is not the primary problem confronting Nigeria, pointing instead to the country’s judicial system.
Femi made the comment during a recent episode of the Good News Naija podcast, where he discussed corruption, leadership and the challenges facing the country.
According to the music icon, Nigeria’s judiciary remains a major concern because a stronger and more independent system, in his view, would have properly addressed the allegations surrounding Tinubu before he became president.
He questioned how Tinubu was able to contest the presidency despite the various allegations that had been raised against him.
Femi said, “Do you think Tinubu is the problem? The judiciary that didn’t stop him from getting there in the first place is a problem. If all the allegations against him are true, how did he contest?
“If we had men and women of calibre and integrity, he wouldn’t have been able to contest in the first place.”
The Afrobeat star further described corruption as deeply entrenched in Nigeria, arguing that people occupying influential positions across different sectors largely belong to the same elite class.
He maintained that the level of systemic corruption in the country could undermine the hopes and aspirations of young Nigerians.
Meanwhile, Femi Kuti recently found himself in another public conversation after humorously declining to take a photograph with dancer Korra Obidi following a concert in Lagos.
The incident was linked to an earlier controversy over Korra’s twerking tribute at the gravesite of Fela Kuti, Femi’s father, during her visit in December 2025.
In a video shared by Korra on Instagram, Femi was seen calling his sister, Yeni Kuti, to join the photograph, apparently to avoid any potential controversy.
Femi reportedly explained that he already had enough issues to deal with and did not want to become involved in another online controversy.
