Olu of Warri Inspects Coronation Anniversary Preparations on Electric Scooter

The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, has once again attracted attention after riding an electric scooter through Okere in Warri, Delta State, while inspecting preparations for his fifth coronation anniversary.

The monarch carried out the inspection as part of his morning fitness routine, moving around the community on the scooter alongside members of his security team.

His appearance on the streets drew excitement from residents and passers-by, who cheered, hailed and celebrated the traditional ruler as he moved through the area.

A video showing the monarch during the inspection was posted on his official Facebook page on Saturday. The post explained that the scooter ride provided him with an opportunity to personally monitor the preparations for the anniversary while also keeping up with his fitness routine.

The unusual sight of the monarch riding an electric scooter has generated reactions on social media, with several users applauding his approachable personality and modern style of engaging with his community.

Ogiame Atuwatse III is expected to commemorate five years on the Warri throne with a series of activities to mark the milestone.

His use of an electric scooter during public outings is not entirely new. In March 2025, the monarch attracted attention when he rode a scooter through Ode-Itsekiri, his ancestral community, where residents welcomed him enthusiastically.

He was also seen in December 2025 riding an electric scooter while inspecting a newly completed road project in Delta State.

The latest outing further highlights the monarch’s preference for combining traditional royal responsibilities with a more informal and accessible approach to interacting with his people.
