Wike Needs Psychiatric Care, Bode George Says, Throws Weight Behind Jonathan for 2027
PDP chieftain Chief Bode George has threatened legal action against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over claims that his Abuja residence was funded with Rivers State money.
George denied the allegation, insisting he bought the house from a private owner through an agent and challenging Wike to prove otherwise.
“My house in Abuja was bought with funds from Rivers? How? The house was built by someone else,” he said. “I bought it, and it is still there.”
The PDP Board of Trustees member said the claim was false and unsubstantiated.
George went further, accusing the FCT minister of making reckless and insulting remarks against senior political figures. He said Wike “needs to be immediately taken to a psychiatric hospital,” adding that it was beneath his dignity to trade prolonged public exchanges with the former Rivers State governor. He described Wike as “a child” relative to his own age and political experience.
He also alleged, without providing evidence, that Wike spends millions of naira weekly to secure favourable media coverage — a claim that could not be independently verified.
George called on President Bola Tinubu to distance himself from allies who routinely attack opponents and elder statesmen, arguing that the administration did not need defenders who relied on insults and personal attacks. Such conduct, he warned, could damage the Presidency and deepen political divisions.
On the PDP’s leadership crisis, George maintained the dispute was far from resolved, despite INEC publishing the name of a presidential candidate submitted by one faction. He said the matter remained before the courts and cautioned against treating the publication as a settlement of the dispute. The party remains split into rival camps contesting control of its structure and the authority to field candidates for the 2027 general election.
The former PDP Deputy National Chairman reiterated his backing for ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, saying Jonathan has the experience, temperament, and leadership qualities to govern Nigeria again should he emerge as the party’s presidential candidate.
George added that he would rather abstain from voting than take part in an election in which the PDP was denied what he considers a fair chance to contest.
