Nura Abdullahi, chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, has regained his freedom after spending 61 days in captivity.
Abdullahi was among five victims who escaped from their abductors in the early hours of Thursday, according to Aliyu Danja, media information officer of the joint task force north-west, Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
Danja announced the development in a statement on Thursday, saying troops received and secured the victims in the general area of Kaura Namoda LGA.
Abdullahi was abducted by armed bandits on July 25, 2026, during an attack on his residence in Bungudu town.
