President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Founder and Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Olaniyi Oyedepo, on his 72nd birthday.
Oyedepo turned 72 today, September 27.
Tinubu joins members of his family, Living Faith Church Worldwide, the Christian community and his admirers in Nigeria and beyond to celebrate the occasion.
In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu described Oyedepo’s life as one devoted to faith, service, leadership and human development.
The President acknowledged what he described as Oyedepo’s contributions to the moral and spiritual development of individuals and communities, particularly through his emphasis on integrity, discipline, diligence, responsibility and excellence.
Tinubu also recognised the cleric’s longstanding advocacy for values he said could strengthen families, institutions and society.
According to the President, Oyedepo’s teachings on hope, purpose and personal responsibility have reached audiences across Nigeria and beyond.
Tinubu also highlighted Oyedepo’s contributions to education and human-capital development through institutions established under his ministry, including Covenant University and Landmark University.
The President said the institutions had provided platforms for academic excellence, leadership development, entrepreneurship and innovation.
“Bishop Oyedepo’s influence extends beyond the pulpit into education, publishing, leadership development and humanitarian service, with the Living Faith Church maintaining a significant international presence across Africa and other parts of the world,” Tinubu said.
He added that Oyedepo had become a prominent Nigerian voice on faith, leadership, integrity, education and human development after more than four decades of ministry.
“For over four decades of ministry, Bishop Oyedepo has become a prominent Nigerian voice on faith, leadership, integrity, education and human development, with his books and teachings reaching audiences across national and continental boundaries,” the President said.
Tinubu further commended Oyedepo for what he described as sustained investment in education and human capacity, as well as his efforts to promote integrity and excellence.
“Bishop David Oyedepo has devoted decades to preaching faith, promoting integrity and encouraging excellence, while investing substantially in education and the development of human capacity. His commitment to building lives, institutions and communities has given his ministry a significant national and international footprint,” he said.
The President also drew attention to social-development initiatives associated with Oyedepo’s ministry, including schools, healthcare facilities and humanitarian interventions.
He specifically mentioned the David Oyedepo Foundation’s support for education and people in need as part of the contributions he was acknowledging on the bishop’s birthday.
“I especially salute Bishop Oyedepo for the social-development initiatives, including schools, healthcare facilities, and humanitarian interventions, associated with his ministry and the David Oyedepo Foundation’s support for education and people in need,” Tinubu said.
In his birthday message, Tinubu prayed for continued wisdom, strength, good health and grace for the cleric as he continues his work in faith, education, morality and human development.
“On this auspicious occasion of his 72nd birthday, I celebrate his life of service and pray that Almighty God will continue to grant him wisdom, strength, good health and renewed grace as he advances the cause of faith, education, morality and human development,” the President said.
“I wish Bishop Oyedepo many more years of fulfilment, good health and continued service to God and humanity,” Tinubu added.
