27-Year-Old Medical Graduate Identified As Woman Allegedly Murdered By Boyfriend

The Enugu State Police Command has identified the woman allegedly murdered by her boyfriend as 27-year-old Chinyere Rosemary Ugwu, a graduate of Medical Laboratory Science from the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.
Ugwu, who recently completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, 30-year-old Okpara Chibuike Emmanuel.
The police had earlier arrested Emmanuel in connection with the alleged murder.
In an update on the case, the command said investigations had established the identity of the deceased and that her parents and siblings had also been identified and interviewed.
The Commissioner of Police also met with the deceased’s family and the suspect as part of efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death.
The CP reportedly assured Ugwu’s family that the police would thoroughly investigate the case and ensure that justice is served.
The command urged members of the public, particularly women, to remain vigilant when meeting or going out with people they know or have relationships with.
The police advised individuals to inform trusted relatives or friends of their whereabouts and avoid situations that could expose them to danger.
The command also urged the public to exercise caution and pay attention to warning signs in relationships, stressing the importance of personal safety.
The suspect, Emmanuel, has also been interviewed by the police as investigators continue to probe the circumstances surrounding Ugwu’s death.
The police said further developments would be communicated as the investigation progresses.
