“Court Remands Actress Doris Ogala In Kirikiri” — Nollywood Star Faces Cyberstalking, Extortion Charges Over Lagos Pastor Okafor

The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of Nollywood actress Doris Ogala at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre over allegations of cyberbullying, cyberstalking and attempted extortion involving Lagos-based cleric, Pastor Chris Okafor.
Justice Akintayo Aluko made the order on Wednesday following Ogala’s arraignment on a three-count charge filed by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.
The charges border on the alleged publication of intimate photographs of the cleric without his consent, dissemination of allegedly false electronic messages and threats intended to compel him to provide financial compensation or purchase a house for the actress.
The prosecution counsel, Tolulope Mokolu, told the court that Ogala allegedly committed the offences between September 2024 and March 2026.
According to the prosecution, the actress knowingly and intentionally published nude and intimate photographs of Okafor on her social media accounts without his consent.
Mokolu alleged that the publication was capable of causing annoyance, embarrassment, emotional distress and damage to the cleric’s reputation.
The prosecution further alleged that the photographs were subsequently circulated across social media blogs and other online platforms.
In another count, Ogala was accused of intentionally publishing and disseminating videos, recordings and electronic messages containing information she allegedly knew to be false.
The prosecution maintained that the publications were intended to bully, threaten, intimidate and harass Okafor.
Mokolu also alleged that the actress transmitted electronic communications threatening to continue publishing intimate and damaging materials about the cleric unless he compensated her financially or purchased a house for her.
The prosecutor told the court that the alleged threats were intended to damage Okafor’s reputation and expose him to public ridicule and disapproval.
According to the prosecution, the alleged offences contravened Sections 24(1)(a), 24(2)(a) and 24(2)(c) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act, 2024.
However, when the three-count charge was read to Ogala, she pleaded not guilty to all the allegations.
Following her plea, Mokolu urged the court to fix a date for trial and order the defendant’s remand pending the determination of the case.
The prosecutor also informed the court that he had only been served with Ogala’s bail application on Wednesday and required time to study the application and file a response.
Opposing the remand request, defence counsel, N. C. Atulomah, argued that the decision to grant bail was within the court’s discretion.
Atulomah urged the judge to release the actress, stating that she was a governorship candidate of a political party in Abia State.
The defence counsel also undertook to ensure Ogala’s appearance in court at the next hearing if she was released.
However, Mokolu opposed the request for her immediate release, maintaining that the prosecution was still within the period allowed by law to respond to the bail application.
After considering the submissions of both parties, Justice Aluko held that the defence had not placed sufficient material before the court to justify the defendant’s immediate release.
The judge consequently declined the request and ordered that Ogala be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the hearing and determination of her bail application.
Justice Aluko, however, directed an accelerated hearing of the bail application and adjourned the matter until October 30, 2026.
The court is expected to hear arguments from both parties on whether Ogala should be admitted to bail pending her trial.
The actress remains presumed innocent of the allegations against her until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
