FCTA Resumes Promotion Exams Disrupted In 2025

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has resumed its 2025 promotion examination for education officers, more than a year after the exercise was disrupted in July 2025.
The rescheduled examination is set for October 12 and 13, 2026, following approval by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike after appeals from affected officers and labour unions.
The original examination, organised by the FCT Civil Service Commission for staff across various cadres of the administration, including the Education Cadre, was disrupted after officials of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), FCT wing, allegedly mobilised and chased education officers out of the examination hall on the two days scheduled for their papers.
The affected officers subsequently appealed for another opportunity to sit the examination. The Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC), the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), FCT Chapter, and the NUT were also involved in efforts to resolve the dispute.
Following the appeals, Wike approved rescheduling the examination in line with the Public Service Rules, allowing the affected officers to sit the papers on the new dates.
