Gateway Front Foundation Screens Ogun East Residents Ahead of Free Surgeries

The Gateway Front Foundation (GFF) has conducted a free medical screening and clinical assessment exercise for residents of The Redemption City, Simawa and neighbouring communities in Ogun State.
The exercise, held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, was organised as a prelude to the Foundation’s planned free surgical intervention programme scheduled for October 9 to 24, 2026, at the Redeemers Health Village in The Redemption City.
The medical outreach was designed to identify residents requiring surgical procedures and specialised medical attention, with beneficiaries expected to proceed to the next phase of the programme following the completion of the screening and clinical assessments.
The screening covered a broad range of medical conditions and specialties, including eye-related conditions such as cataracts and pterygium, dental cases, simple tumours, lipomas, ganglion and hernia cases affecting both men and women.
Other areas covered included gynaecological conditions such as fibroids and vesicovaginal fistula (VVF), Caesarean-section-related cases, prostate conditions, orthopaedic cases, bone fractures, dislocations, amputations, diabetes and gastroenterology-related conditions.
Two Venues Used for Wider Coverage
To make the exercise accessible to a larger number of residents, the screening was conducted simultaneously at two locations.
At The Redemption City, medical personnel attended to residents at Pillar 17Q, Old Auditorium, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
The second screening centre was located at the Akogun Olusegun Okeowo Compound, opposite the market in Simawa, where the exercise ran from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The exercise was led by Dr. Bankole Osisanya, with three teams of medical personnel deployed to attend to beneficiaries at the various locations.
The medical teams conducted clinical assessments and screened residents for conditions that could qualify them for surgery or other specialised interventions under the programme.
The Gateway Front Foundation’s leadership also monitored the exercise throughout the day, while its representatives were involved in mobilisation, coordination and ensuring that the screening process proceeded smoothly.
Among those present to monitor and coordinate the exercise were the Foundation’s Administrative Officer, Arch. Abiodun Adesanya, popularly known as Kajiko, and the GFF Manager for Sagamu Local Government Area, Aare Kolade Segun-Okeowo.
Residents Turn Out for Free Healthcare
The exercise attracted residents from The Redemption City, Simawa and surrounding communities, with beneficiaries turning out at both screening centres for medical attention.
The Foundation said the turnout reflected the demand for accessible healthcare services within the communities and provided medical personnel with an opportunity to identify cases requiring further intervention.
Following the assessments, a number of medical cases were identified and selected for various surgical procedures and other interventions. The selected beneficiaries were documented and scheduled to proceed to the next stage of the programme at the Redeemers Health Village.
The surgical intervention programme is expected to run from October 9 to 24, 2026, providing selected beneficiaries with access to procedures arising from the conditions identified during the screening exercise.
Residents who participated in the exercise expressed appreciation to the Gateway Front Foundation and Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, who sponsored the free medical programme, for bringing medical services closer to communities in the area.
The Foundation said the initiative forms part of its broader commitment to improving access to healthcare and supporting the wellbeing of residents of Ogun East and Ogun State.
The screening exercise ended peacefully, with the Foundation describing the programme as successful and reaffirming its intention to continue supporting initiatives aimed at addressing healthcare needs at the grassroots.
