“I just blocked a 42-year-old man who wanted to marry me” — Lady explains why

A lady has sparked conversations on social media after revealing why she blocked a 42-year-old man who declared her his wife just two weeks after they met.
In a viral video, the lady explained that she initially considered giving the man, whom she identified as Mr A, a chance. However, their conversation about his living arrangements, finances and lifestyle reportedly changed her mind.
She said the man had repeatedly sent her messages before she decided to have a conversation with him to determine whether he could be a suitable husband.
How they met
According to the lady, Mr A is 42 years old, has never been married and has no children. She said they met two weeks ago, and he declared her his wife on the day they first met.
She recounted that the man claimed his mother had predicted that he would meet his future wife that morning.
In her words, “Mr A is 42 years old, never been married, no kids. We met two weeks ago, and the day he met me, he said I was his wife.
“He said that morning, when he was leaving home, his mother told him he was going to meet his wife that day, and I was the one he claimed was his wife.”
The lady also disclosed that Mr A had previously been engaged to another woman in either 2017 or 2018, but the engagement ended.
When she asked him what happened, he reportedly explained that his former fiancée was not submissive, which led him to call off the engagement.
Man reportedly lives with his parents despite having a good job
The lady said she decided to ask Mr A about his occupation and living arrangements after he continued contacting her.
She explained that he had a well-paying job in the technology sector, something she described positively. However, she was surprised when he told her that he lived with his parents.
She said she had no problem with people who returned to their parents’ homes because of financial difficulties. However, she questioned why a man with a good income had continued living with his parents for years.
According to her, Mr A explained that he had lived with his parents before moving out to rent an apartment when he became engaged to his former fiancée.
However, after the engagement collapsed, he returned to his parents’ home and had remained there ever since.
She said, “I asked him if he had been staying with his parents all this while. He said no, that he was living with them before.
“When he was engaged to his fiancée eight or nine years ago, in 2017, he moved out and rented an apartment. But because the engagement did not work out, he moved back.
“Mr A moved back to his parents’ house eight or nine years ago, and to date, he is still staying with them.”
Lady questions man’s sense of financial responsibility
The lady further revealed that she asked Mr A whether he contributed towards his parents’ mortgage payments.
According to her, he explained that the mortgage had been fully paid and that he only contributed towards utility bills occasionally.
His response reportedly raised further concerns for her, as she questioned his level of financial responsibility despite his well-paying job.
She said, “I asked him if he helped his parents pay the mortgage or what. He said, ‘Oh, no, no, no. The mortgage is fully paid. I just help with the utility bills sometimes.’
“No sense of responsibility. And he said I am his wife.”
She then asked him what he did with his money, considering that he earned a good income.
According to the lady, Mr A explained that he enjoyed hanging out and travelling with his male friends.
She said she questioned whether he had considered the possibility that he might not be interested in women, given his lifestyle and living arrangements.
She added that, at 42, the man still lived with his parents despite having the financial means to maintain an independent household.
Lady recalls man’s complaint about former fiancée
The lady also revisited Mr A’s explanation for ending his previous engagement, questioning his expectations of a submissive wife.
She argued that he had not demonstrated the level of independence and responsibility she expected from a prospective husband.
She said, “You are 42, you stay with your parents, and you have the money. See, it’s different if your parents are living with you in your house. You moved into your parents’ house.
“So you don’t even know what it means to be a leader. And then he is saying his ex-girlfriend was not submissive, so he ended the relationship. And you think it’s me? Me, that would be submissive?
“You don’t even know what it feels like to be responsible. You don’t know what responsibility is.”
Describing herself as someone who had taken on significant responsibilities throughout her life, the lady said she did not believe she was the right person for the man.
She identified herself as a first daughter and emphasised that she had always been accustomed to taking responsibility.
“Me, I am a first daughter. First daughter, first everything, first everything in this life. It’s not me. You think I am your wife?” she added.
Lady says she would end up babysitting the man
The lady further explained that she was uncomfortable with the prospect of marrying a man who, in her view, had not established an independent life despite earning a good income.
She pointed out that his mother still cooked for him, his parents had already paid off their mortgage, and he had not made plans to acquire his own house.
According to her, Mr A said he intended to move out of his parents’ home when he eventually met his wife.
However, his response did not convince her, as she questioned why he needed to wait until marriage before becoming independent.
She said, “If I marry that one, I will be babysitting him.
“Your mother cooks. Your mortgage is paid by your parents. You don’t plan on getting a house.
“He said when he meets his wife, he is going to move out.”
The lady’s comments suggested that she wanted a prospective partner who could demonstrate independence and take responsibility for his own life before entering marriage.
Lady blocks man after their conversation
The lady disclosed that she eventually decided to end the interaction by telling Mr A she would call him back before blocking him.
She explained that she no longer had the energy to engage in a prolonged disagreement or go back and forth over the issues they had discussed.
Recounting her decision, she said, “I just said, ‘Let me call you back,’ because, at this age, I don’t have the strength to go back and forth.
“And then I blocked him.”
She ended the video with a sarcastic remark, saying, “I am the problem. Thank you.”
