“It will be a proper English day” — Peller announces plans to host Wole Soyinka on livestream

Nigerian TikTok star,  Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has announced plans to host Nobel Prize-winning writer Professor Wole Soyinka on his livestream, sparking interest because of the striking contrast between their public personas.

The content creator disclosed his intention during a livestream, telling viewers that he would share more information about the proposed session in the coming days.

Peller, known for his spontaneous humour and informal manner of speaking, hinted that the conversation would offer an unusual experience for his audience.

He said, “I want to do a stream with Prof. Wole Soyinka. I will announce it soon and tell you guys the plan. It will be a proper English day. You will hear some ‘grammar’ that day.”

Why Peller wants to host Soyinka

Peller has built a substantial online following through entertaining livestreams featuring celebrities, fellow content creators and unscripted conversations.

Soyinka, on the other hand, is one of Africa’s most celebrated literary figures, renowned for his work as a playwright, poet and novelist.

The writer made history in 1986 when he became the first African to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature, a milestone that cemented his place in global literary history.

Peller’s proposed livestream has attracted attention because it would bring together two personalities known for very different approaches to communication and entertainment.

Livestream date remains unknown

Although Peller expressed enthusiasm about the planned session, he did not announce a date for the livestream.

It also remains unclear whether Soyinka has accepted the invitation, as no confirmation of his participation was provided in the announcement.

If the proposed meeting takes place, it could introduce the literary icon to some of Peller’s younger online audience while giving viewers an unconventional conversation to anticipate.
