Lady seeks advice after husband proposes sharing family home between his two children

A woman has sought advice over a disagreement with her husband about how their family property should be shared if he dies.
In a post seeking public opinion, the woman said she and her husband have been married for five years and have a three-year-old daughter together. Her husband also has a 12-year-old son from a previous relationship, who stays with them every other weekend and during school holidays.
She said she had always treated her stepson like her own child and ensured that he had everything he needed.
However, tensions reportedly arose after the couple bought a piece of land to build their family home and began discussing their wills and estate plans with a financial adviser.
According to her, her husband proposed that if he died, the land and house should be divided equally between his son and their daughter. He also suggested appointing his sister to manage his son’s share until the boy turns 25.
The woman expressed concern that the arrangement could give her husband’s sister and, indirectly, his former partner’s family influence over decisions concerning the family home and property.
She said she would prefer that the main house be left to her and their daughter, while a separate education trust fund is established for her stepson.
Her proposal reportedly angered her husband, who accused her of being a selfish stepmother seeking to disinherit his firstborn son.
The woman has now asked the public whether her position is unreasonable or whether she is simply trying to protect her financial security.
