Missing Documents Stall Trial Of Suspects In FRSC Officer’s Murder

An Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo has adjourned the trial of three men accused of killing a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer, Lasisi Oluwamayokun, and her daughter, Adesewa, after the prosecution failed to serve them with the documents required for their arraignment.

Justice Yinka Aderibigbe adjourned the case until December 8 after the state prosecutor, Muyiwa Ogunleye, told the court on Monday that the necessary information papers had not been served on the defendants.

Ogunleye attributed the failure to the late notification he received about the proceedings, saying he was informed last Wednesday and could not complete the service process before the scheduled court session.

He asked the court for a short adjournment to enable the prosecution to fulfil the necessary legal requirements.

The court also advised the three defendants to secure legal representation before proceedings commence.

The defendants, identified as Gboyega Daramola, 39; Sunday James, 38; and Fajemirokun Victor, 36, were returned to the Ilesa Correctional Facility following the adjournment.

Speaking to journalists after the proceedings, Ogunleye said the prosecution had lined up eight witnesses, including four police officers, to testify in the case.

He expressed optimism that the trial could commence and potentially be concluded at the next sitting, depending on the court’s schedule.

The case concerns the alleged killing of Oluwamayokun, 38, and her daughter after they reportedly disappeared on November 2, 2025.

The mother and daughter were said to have left their residence at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State, before they were reported missing. They were subsequently confirmed dead.

Investigators allegedly identified Fajemirokun, who was acquainted with the deceased woman, as the person who lured the victims into a plot that led to their deaths.

During a police parade at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo, Fajemirokun reportedly confessed to luring the victims to their deaths at the hands of alleged ritualists.

Daramola and James were identified as herbalists allegedly linked to the crime.

The three defendants are facing allegations over their respective roles in the killings. Their culpability has yet to be established in court.

The case was adjourned to December 8 for hearing, with the prosecution expected to fulfil the outstanding procedural requirements before the trial can proceed.
