Obasanjo, Oloyede To Headline KolaDaisi University’s 10th Anniversary, Convocation

KolaDaisi University, Ibadan, Oyo State, is set to celebrate its 10th anniversary alongside its sixth convocation ceremony, with former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the immediate past Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, expected to headline the events.

The university said the celebrations would run from October 26 to November 5, 2026, featuring a convocation lecture, Founder’s Day, alumni gathering, community service, research exhibition and anniversary dinner.

Obasanjo, a former Nigerian leader, is scheduled to deliver the convocation lecture on Tuesday, November 3, while Oloyede will deliver the commencement address as part of activities marking the institution’s decade of operation.

The celebrations will culminate in the award of degrees to graduating students at the sixth convocation ceremony scheduled for Thursday, November 5, at the Sherifat Agbeke Hall on the university’s campus in Ibadan.

In a statement announcing the programme, the university said the anniversary offered an opportunity to reflect on its growth, celebrate its achievements and renew its commitment to academic excellence, leadership development and national advancement.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olajumoke Morenikeji, who extended the invitation on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Governing Council and Senate, urged education stakeholders, alumni, parents, corporate organisations and members of the public to participate in the celebrations.

The programme will begin on Monday, October 26, with inter-faculty sporting competitions and male inter-hall sports at the university’s Sports Arena. Female inter-hall competitions and additional faculty contests will follow on Tuesday, October 27.

Alumni Night is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, at the Sherifat Agbeke Auditorium, providing former students an opportunity to reconnect with the institution and strengthen relationships that could support its continued development.

The university will also extend its activities beyond the campus through a community service exercise scheduled for Thursday, October 29, at Alata Market and Salako Village.

On Friday, October 30, the institution will hold a tree-planting exercise on campus, followed by a special Jumat service at the campus praying ground.

A special thanksgiving service will take place on Sunday, November 1, at the Sherifat Agbeke Hall.

Academic activities will take centre stage on Monday, November 2, with a press conference by the Vice-Chancellor and a research exhibition designed to showcase the university’s academic work and research initiatives.

The following day, November 3, will feature Founder’s Day and the convocation lecture by Obasanjo, alongside gown collection for graduating students. An entertainment night is also scheduled for that evening.

The anniversary programme will continue on Wednesday, November 4, with a 10th anniversary dinner expected to bring together members of the university community and other stakeholders to celebrate the institution’s journey.

The sixth convocation ceremony will hold the following day, marking the formal recognition of graduating students’ academic achievements and their transition into professional and other responsibilities.

The university said the programme was designed to combine academic celebration with community engagement, environmental responsibility, research promotion and stronger alumni relations.

The Vice-Chancellor reiterated the institution’s invitation to the public to join the celebrations, describing the milestone as an opportunity to reflect on the university’s development and its aspirations for the future.

Margaret Innocent, the university’s Principal Public Relations Officer, issued the announcement.
