Police Arrest Two, Recover Drugs, Stolen Cables In A/Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two suspects in separate incidents in Uyo, and recovered suspected Indian hemp and cable wires.

The suspects, identified as Gideon David and Godwin Paulinus, were arrested on Wednesday, according to a statement issued on Friday by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John.

John said David was arrested at about 9:30 pm along Aka Itiam Street, Uyo, following intelligence reports about the alleged sale of illicit drugs in the area.

She said a search conducted on him led to the recovery of a quantity of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.

David, according to the police, will remain in police custody as investigations continue to identify others who might be connected to the activity.

In a separate incident, Paulinus was arrested after the command received a distress call reporting an alleged theft at a company around Udoduoma, near Tropicana, Uyo.

The statement said detectives were dispatched to the scene at about 2:57 pm and arrested the suspect.

“Cable wires were recovered from the suspect’s bag during a search,” it said.
