Police Bust Counterfeit Currency Production Hideout In Abia

The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, John Paul, after operatives allegedly uncovered a hideout where counterfeit Nigerian currency was being produced in Obikabia community, Aba.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, disclosed this in a release issued on Thursday.
According to the police, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit raided the hideout following actionable intelligence that some criminal elements were involved in the production of counterfeit currency.
During the operation, the suspect was arrested, while seven bundles of counterfeit ₦200 notes were recovered as exhibits.
The Command said investigations were ongoing, with efforts being made to apprehend other fleeing members of the suspected syndicate.
The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, Wilfred Afolabi, reiterated the Command’s commitment to combating criminal activities and ensuring the safety and security of residents across the state.
He emphasised that Abia State would remain a no-go area for criminals and their activities.
