Tinubu Mourns Shari’ah Council Sec-Gen Who Backed 2023 Bid

President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN), Malam Nafiu Baba-Ahmed.
Baba-Ahmed died in the early hours of Tuesday.
In a condolence message issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the deceased as an impactful leader who guided the affairs of the SCSN with wisdom, foresight and commitment to unity, justice and peaceful coexistence.
The president recalled his longstanding relationship with Baba-Ahmed, including their interactions ahead of the 2011 election and the deceased’s counsel and support during his 2023 presidential campaign.
Tinubu also acknowledged Baba-Ahmed’s role in sustaining the voice of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in national affairs, promoting understanding and advancing the values of moral renewal and social justice.
He extended his condolences to the leadership and members of the SCSN, the Baba-Ahmed family, the Kaduna State Government and people, as well as the Nigerian Muslim Ummah.
