Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued a kidnapped victim, neutralised two suspected kidnappers and recovered N10 million reportedly paid as ransom during a security operation in Falgore Forest, Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The operation, conducted in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and local hunters, also led to the recovery of the ransom paid by the victim’s family following his abduction.

The Army disclosed the development in a statement issued on Saturday by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 3 Brigade, Major Babatunde Zubairu.

According to the statement, the operation followed the abduction of Alhaji Kabiru Aliyu on October 11, 2026, at Fanyabo Village in Falgore Forest.

Aliyu was reportedly returning from Yandoka Market in Kaduna State at about midnight when he was seized by the suspected kidnappers.

The abductors subsequently contacted his family in Yan Taburmi Village and demanded a ransom for his release.

The Army said troops acted on credible intelligence and mounted an ambush in conjunction with operatives of the police, DSS and local hunters to track down the suspected kidnappers and secure the victim’s release.

The coordinated operation reportedly resulted in Aliyu’s rescue and the neutralisation of two suspected members of the kidnapping syndicate.

Other members of the gang, however, reportedly escaped towards Falgore Forest.

Following the operation, the troops conducted a search of the area, leading to the recovery of N10 million said to have been paid by the victim’s family as ransom.

The recovered money was subsequently returned to Aliyu and his family, according to the Army.

The operation represents a security breakthrough for the military and other security agencies involved in efforts to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities in the area.

The Commander of 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Saka Jimoh, commended the troops for their alertness, professionalism and fighting spirit during the operation.

Jimoh reaffirmed the brigade’s commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal elements and preventing further security breaches across the area.

He also urged residents to provide security agencies with credible and timely information that could assist ongoing operations to maintain peace and security in Kano State.

The Army reiterated the importance of public cooperation in identifying criminal hideouts and supporting security agencies in their efforts to combat kidnapping and other threats to public safety.
