Ondo Declares Death Penalty for Kidnappers Amid Security Crisis

The announcement was made on Saturday by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Kayode Ajulo, following the State Executive Council’s monthly meeting.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Ajulo said the decision is part of a wider security strategy to address the disturbing spike in abductions and violent crimes across the state.

He noted that the surge in kidnapping incidents has left families devastated — many forced to pay massive ransoms, with several victims tragically losing their lives.

“Kidnapping and cultism have become existential threats to our communities,” Ajulo stated. “We are sending a clear message: Ondo State will not be a safe haven for criminals.”
