The Nigerian Army has warned residents of the South-East region to avoid digitally manipulated voice and video content circulating on social media platforms.
The Army gave the warning while reacting to a misleading video alleging that the Federal Government and South-East and Northern governors have planned to transport weapons to attack South-East residents.
Reacting in a statement on Tuesday, the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 82 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Ayeni, described the claims as “entirely deceptive” and “a calculated attempt to incite disaffection among ethnic groups in the country.
