The death of notorious bandit leader Kachalla Yellow Danbokolo has sparked celebrations in Zamfara State and across parts of the North-West.
Papers News reports that the demise, following a fierce gun battle with the Shinkafi Volunteer Forces, is being hailed as a major blow to criminality in the region.
According to security sources who spoke with The Nation, Danbokolo and at least 173 bandits were killed in a surprise offensive launched by locally mobilised vigilante fighters. Many of the victims were buried in mass graves last week following clashes in Shinkafi LGA.
