The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) hosted a landmark meeting of African National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs) operating at World Health Organization (WHO) Maturity Level 3 (ML3) in Abuja on July 7, 2025.

The meeting marked a major step in strengthening regulatory collaboration across the continent to improve access to safe, effective, and quality-assured medicines and vaccines.

In her opening remarks, NAFDAC Director-General Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye highlighted the agency’s regulatory reform journey, which began with the WHO’s Global Benchmarking Tool (GBT) in 2018. After implementing over 800 recommendations based on GBT assessments, Nigeria’s regulatory system was declared ML3-compliant in 2022—signifying a well-functioning and integrated framework.
