The directive, issued Tuesday night by the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, followed rising public complaints over alleged harassment, extortion, and intimidation by operatives using such vehicles.
Describing the practice as “grossly unprofessional,” CP Danjuma warned that any officer found violating the new order would face immediate disciplinary action. He added that commanders of defaulting units would also be held vicariously liable.
“The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, has issued a firm directive banning all tactical teams from using unmarked vehicles, including mini-buses and tricycles, for patrols across the state,” a statement from the command read.
