In a strongly worded post shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, Omokri questioned why Obi, who is also from Anambra State, has not spoken publicly about the young entrepreneur’s tragic death. Onyekere, a rising business figure and social media influencer, was reportedly kidnapped and killed in his home state—a development that has triggered outrage online.
“Peter Obi is never shy about jumping onto trending issues like this, as long as they occur outside Igboland,” Omokri stated.
Drawing comparisons with Obi’s vocal responses to national tragedies such as the Ibadan stampede deaths, the burning of Deborah Samuel in Sokoto, and killings in Uromi, Edo State, Omokri accused the former Anambra governor of selective activism.
He further alleged that Obi spreads misinformation on economic matters, citing a recent claim by Obi that President Bola Tinubu was planning to borrow $21 billion under the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF)—a claim Omokri described as false.
