Thousands of youths from Southern Borno have collectively raised ₦38.5 million in support of the 2027 senatorial ambition of Ali Ndume.
The fundraising event took place on Saturday at Forshams Hall in Maiduguri, drawing over 2,000 participants from the district’s nine local government areas.
According to the organisers, the donations—largely contributed by youth groups and community associations—reflect a strong desire to retain what they described as a “fearless and people-oriented representative” in the National Assembly.
Speaking on behalf of the group, youth coordinator Babandi Shehu said the effort goes beyond financial support, describing it as a clear political statement at a critical time for the country. He noted that the initiative underscores the need for leaders who are willing to speak boldly and hold those in power accountable.
“This is not just about funding a campaign; it is about preserving a style of representation that puts the people first,” Shehu said, praising Ndume for consistently voicing concerns on national issues.
Supporters also pointed to the senator’s legislative record and constituency projects as reasons for their early endorsement.
Reinforcing this view, Ndume’s Senior Legislative Aide, Junaid Jibril Maiva, highlighted what he described as over a decade of impactful service, including the sponsorship of more than 70 bills and the facilitation of key federal institutions in Southern Borno and across the North-East.
