Davido Appointed Youth Mobilization Lead for Osun Governorship Campaign

Afrobeats star Davido has been appointed as the Head of Youth Mobilization for the re-election campaign of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The singer made the announcement on Tuesday via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, expressing enthusiasm about taking on the role within the campaign structure of his uncle, who is also the flag bearer of the Accord Party.
In his post, Davido wrote that he had been given the appointment by the Osun State governor, stating: “I have been appointed by the Governor of OSUN STATE @AAdeleke_01 and flag bearer of the ACCORD PARTY as HEAD YOUTH MOBILIZATION OF CAMPAIGN COUNCIL!”
He added that the campaign team is looking forward to a smooth election season and a successful re-election bid, using the slogan “4+4.”
The appointment comes as political activities intensify in Osun State ahead of the August 8, 2026 governorship election, where Governor Adeleke is seeking a second term in office.
Davido has long shown public support for his uncle’s political career and has increasingly become involved in related activities. In 2025, he was also named Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund, aimed at boosting sports development and investment in the state.
His new role is expected to strengthen youth engagement in the campaign, particularly among young supporters in Nigeria and the diaspora as parties ramp up mobilisation ahead of the polls.
